COAS not aspiring to be president: Naqvi

at 3:25 PM

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi clarified on Thursday that there is no plan about a resignation by President Asif Ali Zardari and no aspirations by Field Marshal Asim Munir to assume presidency.

In a post on X, Naqvi said “We are fully aware of who is behind the malicious campaign targeting President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and the Chief of Army Staff.”

“I have categorically stated that there has been no discussion, nor does any such idea exist, about the President being asked to resign or the COAS aspiring to assume the presidency,” Naqvi added.

“The President of Pakistan enjoys a strong and respectful relationship with the leadership of the Armed Forces,” he added.

He also added that the COAS was focused on strength or stability of Pakistan.

Naqvi further added that whoever was spreading this propaganda were collaborating with ‘hostile foreign agencies’.

Speculation had grown about a possible change in presidency after the government gained strength in the National Assembly after the verdict in the reserved seats case.
