Operation by police and locals destroys TTP base camp in Karak

A three-day joint police operation against Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants in Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has concluded successfully, local authorities announced on Tuesday. The operation targeted a long-established TTP base camp in the challenging mountainous terrain of Koh-e-Maidan.

According to DSP Karak, Fazal Akbar, police forces, aided by local civilians, successfully cleared the area of militants. The TTP had used Koh-e-Maidan as a key base for launching attacks in the districts of Mianwali (Punjab), Karak, and Lakki Marwat (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).

The successful operation involved coordinated efforts between police forces from Kurram, Lakki Marwat, and Mianwali, utilizing modern communication systems across the three districts.

Following the operation’s conclusion, police returned safely, and celebrations, including traditional Khattak dances, were held to mark the clearing of the area.
