11 terrorists killed in Bajaur operation

At least 11 militants have been killed and five security personnel have been injured in an operation against terrorists in Bajaur that began on Tuesday morning. The operation was launched against militant hideouts following the imposition of a curfew in sixteen areas of Bajaur.

The curfew will remain in place from 5am to 5pm for the next three days. Reaidents have been warned not to venture out of their hones during these hours. Announcements regarding the operation were made on loudspeakers from mosques throughout the area. The areas under curfew include Badsiyah, Tarkho, Irab, Gat, Agra, Khodchay and Davaogai. Apart from this, other affected areas include Kalan, Laghray, Katkot, Gilay, Nakhtar, Zary, Dambarey, Amanta and Zagay are also under curfew.

Gunship helicopters shelled militant hideouts throughout the day with police establishing checkpoints on major routes in the area.

Security forces are proceeding with caution amid reports of terrorists hiding among civilian population. Local sources have reported that some civilians have also been injured in the operation, although an exact figure could not be obtained.

Posts from social media accounts affiliated with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan reveal that the operation has inflicted damages amongst the group’s assets in the area.

Meanwhile, official comments have not been made regarding casualties in the area.

However, sources confirmed that 11 militants have been killed in the operation so far. Sources also confirmed that at least five security personnel have been injured in the operation with one being in a critical state.
